Born and Bred is a feature-length documentary film that follows a new generation of teenage boxers as they battle for a position in the American boxing capital of Los Angeles, where Latino immigration is at an all-time high. The tale of 15-year-old twin brothers in their last two years of amateur boxing, when boys are turned into men and Olympic aspirations are gained and lost, is at the center of the film.

The video, which was shot over the course of four years, gives an inside look into East Los Angeles’ gritty boxing culture, which has more fighters than anyplace else in the nation.

The tale of Oscar and Javier Molina, twin brothers, and their close connection with longtime trainer Robert Luna is the focus of the film. The film chronicles their last years of fighting as children, as well as their transition into the men’s division of the sport, where they face off against seasoned fighters.

Interviews with Mike Tyson, Teddy Atlas, Emanuel Steward, and others may be found among the files. Any boxing enthusiast or participant should check out the footage.
